Biography:

Raven was raised in Oregon, but has lived in Ecuador, Venezuela, Guatemala, France, Spain, and Italy. Before completing her M.A. in Spanish, she was a bilingual social worker for a decade. She taught Spanish courses at Portland State University for 5 years before coming to OSU in 2013.

Her primary academic focus is in Romance language pedagogy, but is also interested in sociolinguistics, bilingual education, online/hybrid pedagogies, inclusive teaching, and service learning.

Raven is curious about people's lives, stories, interests, motivations, etc. Raven loves meeting new students as well as building long-term  relationships. She is interested in learning what students like and doesn't like about learning and how she can help them make the experience more meaningful.

Raven's two favorite courses are Spanish Conversation and Internship, a service-learning course that sends students into the community to work with youth.

Off campus Raven enjoys time with family and friends, hiking, dancing, traveling, and reading.
