Quality Teaching (QT) Symposium 

Register now for the Quality Teaching Symposium on April 28, 2026 in person at the Memorial Union with afternoon sessions online. 

Hosted by the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Quality Teaching Symposium kicks off OSU's Teaching Excellence Week. 

Beyond OSU Community of Practice 

Facilitators: Dee Gillen and Karen Elliot

Connect with other Beyond OSU instructors at our Spring meetings where we discuss effective teaching strategies, assignments, and class activities around career preparation and advancement. We are sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning, Core Education, and the Career Development Center.

Seeking Solutions Instructor Training Workshop 

The Seeking Solutions Instructor Training Workshop is a required training for faculty and TAs teaching a Seeking Solutions course. Collaborate with your Seeking Solutions peers and learn about the intent and spirit of this new Core Ed category, designing a course around a wicked problem, mentoring and supervising interdisciplinary teams, teaching and assessing teamwork, and having students develop a communication product. Questions? Student Engagement Across Modalities & Class Sizes Community of Practice  

Facilitators: Shane Brown and Ashley D'Antonio

Community of practice participants will facilitate student success in their courses through the collaborative development of methods and materials for engaging students in asynchronous, hybrid, and synchronous environments. Participants should be teaching in Spring Term and activities will focus on developing student engagement activities for Spring Term courses.  We will focus on small changes or minor adaptations that can be made in courses to increase student engagement with course material. We especially welcome individuals teaching large-enrolled courses and/or teach in multiple modalities. The community of practice will incorporate sharing, discussion and reflection about lessons learned through the process. Questions? Please contact Ashley D'Antonio or Shane Brown

Teaching and AI Faculty Learning Community 

Facilitators: Liz Delf and Cub Kahn

This FLC will blend five required Zoom meetings with online learning activities in Canvas. The learning community will provide a collaborative space for participants to explore AI tools and to develop and refine teaching strategies to meet the challenges brought about by ubiquitous generative AI tools. Participants will address AI-related concerns such as issues with academic integrity and bias.

Winter 2026

Teaching Beyond OSU Community of Practice 

Facilitators: Dee Gillen and Karen Elliott, with Kara Clevinger, Brenna Gomez, McKenzie Huber 

This community of practice is led by and for instructors teaching Beyond OSU I/II courses in the new Core Ed curriculum. Our aim is to foster connections among Beyond OSU instructors, while discussing effective teaching strategies around career preparation and advancement. We are sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning, Core Education, and the Career Development Center. We will have two meetings in Winter term.

Seeking Solutions Faculty Learning Community

Facilitators: Meg Mobley, Kara Clevinger, Kristin Nagy Catz, Nancy Barbour, Cyndie McCarley 

Participants will develop and refine approaches to design activities and assignments that effectively teach to and assess Seeking Solutions LO4: “Demonstrate skills that enable effective collaboration through interdisciplinary teamwork.” This learning community will provide a collaborative space to learn alongside pedagogical specialists, assessment experts, and teaching colleagues from across the university. The learning community will work on rewriting the rubric to assess LO4 for Core Ed program assessment and have a collaborative space to work through the challenges of teaching and assessing teamwork skills.

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Community of Practice

Facilitators: Ashley Holmes and Tasha Randall  

This community of practice is for any faculty member interested in learning more about using SoTL to enhance their teaching and improve student learning.

Winter 2026 AI Book Club (co-sponsored by CTL and Ecampus) 

Facilitator: Katherine McAlvage

Using Perusall, participants will collaboratively annotate and discuss Tricia Bertram Gallant and David A. Rettinger’s 2025 book, The Opposite of Cheating: Teaching for Integrity in the Age of AI. There will also be three meetings for further discussion and brainstorming.
